Berhampur, Jan 15: In a major crackdown on crime, Ganjam Police carried out a one-day special drive, “Operation Strike,” across multiple police stations, resulting in the arrest of 47 individuals involved in various illegal activities.

The operation, launched under the supervision of Ganjam SP Shubendu Kumar Patra, targeted illegal arms, gambling dens, smuggling of stolen goods, illicit liquor, and sand trafficking.

Illegal arms: Four people were arrested in connection with three cases. Authorities seized one 7mm pistol, two country-made guns, and three bullets.

Gambling dens: Six gambling dens were raided, leading to 35 arrests, along with the seizure of ₹87,590 and 15 mobile phones.

Illegal liquor: 37 cases were registered, and 39 people were arrested, with a significant quantity of liquor confiscated.

Sand smuggling: Eleven vehicles were seized.

NDPS cases: Two people were arrested.

The SP’s office confirmed that a total of 47 people were apprehended during the operation, emphasizing the police’s commitment to curbing crime and ensuring public safety.
