​​​​​​​Angul, Oct 23: In a tragic incident, a man-eater croc snatched away a man’s hand on Thursday while rescuing a goat from the reptile’s grip.

The incident wreaked panic in the Kishorenagar area today as the fierce crocodile living in a ravine, crunched down a goat grazer’s hand at the Jhampuli village under the Raniakata GP in Kishorenagar.

The victim has been identified as Ranjit Pradhan, a local of Jhampuli.

According to reports, Ranjit was grazing goats near the Jhimei gorge near the Manjore reservoir along with some locals. Meanwhile, a crocodile dragged a goat into deep water. On being aware of it, Ranjit leaped into the water to save the animal. However, the croc crunched down Ranjit’s left hand and vanished into the water.

On being informed, locals rushed him to the Kishorenagar CHC and later to DHH Angul for resuscitation. His condition is reportedly critical.
