Balangir, Nov 10: In a tragic road mishap, one person was killed and two others sustained critical injuries after two bikes collided head-on near Malijhar Square under Belpada police limits in Odisha’s Balangir district.

The deceased has been identified as Samrat Bag, a resident of Raipur in Chhattisgarh.

As per reports, Samrat had travelled to Balangir to attend a wedding ceremony and was heading to Belpada Square on a motorcycle with two companions for some wedding-related work when their bike collided with another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

The impact left all three riders seriously injured, and Samrat later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Patnagarh Hospital.

The two injured individuals were initially taken to Patnagarh Hospital, where they received first aid before being referred to a hospital in Balangir for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the Belpada police have initiated an investigation into the accident and sent the deceased’s body for post-mortem.

A probe is underway to determine the cause of the collision, said the police.
