Guard wall of Daya West canal collapses in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, May 22: The newly constructed guard wall of Daya West canal collapsed on Friday. The wall that was made to retain the canal embankment and the adjacent road broke down after a downpour in the afternoon. About 60 percent of the wall between Kapileswar and Kapilaprashad village has collapsed into the canal creating deep trencha along the concrete road. As per the locals of Kapilaprashad, the concrete road was constructed recently after the sewerage project got completed before a week. At the same time the guard wall of Daya West canal got constructed. However, the wall collapsed into the canal as the wild stream of rainwater gushed from the village in the afternoon. On the other hand, the Sewerage and Roads & Building department officials have taken stock of the incident.
