
Bhubaneswar, Oct 6: The grand festival of Durga Puja has concluded, and now the focus shifts to the worship of Goddess Lakshmi, the symbol of wealth and prosperity. In Bhubaneswar, preparations are in full swing for the Lakshmi Puja, with various institutions, clubs, and commercial establishments gearing up to celebrate this auspicious occasion. From today, the devotees will flock to the Lakshmi Puja Mandaps, which are decorated with colorful lights and arches, setting the stage for grand rituals and prayers.
In Unit-6, Ganganagar, the Samrat Club is hosting its 35th edition of the Lakshmi Puja, one of the oldest and most prominent in the city. The rituals will begin on Monday morning with the Kalash Yatra, followed by a series of prayers including Surya Puja, Chandi Path, and Sukta Path, continuing till the 11th of the month. Devotees will be served prasad daily, and special lamps will be lit by the organizing committee.
In addition to the main ceremonies, daily evening events will include devotional songs, dance performances, and Melody Nights, attracting a large crowd of devotees from the surrounding areas. On the 12th, a grand immersion ceremony will take place in Sahid Nagar, marking the conclusion of the celebrations.
Unit-9's Bayababa Lakshmi Puja Samiti is celebrating its 16th year this time. The rituals will begin on Monday evening with the arrival of Goddess Lakshmi through the Kalash Yatra. As part of the event's eco-friendly measures, the use of plastic has been prohibited. Special prayers, cultural programs, and prasad distribution will continue till the end.
Meanwhile, the "Lakshmi Cultural Association" in Anandbazar is celebrating its 41st year with a grand prayer ceremony followed by a flower offering at 10 PM. The event promises to be a feast for the eyes and soul, with vibrant rituals and community celebrations.
In VSS Nagar, the 48th Lakshmi Puja is being observed, where devotees will have the opportunity to view the goddess on Monday and Wednesday. The organizers from Shailashree Vihar and the Cultural and Women’s Development Committees are expecting thousands to participate in the festivities, which will include seven days of cultural events and prasad distribution.
With various organizations and business associations across Bhubaneswar planning elaborate celebrations, this year’s Lakshmi Puja promises to be an exciting and spiritually uplifting event for all.
