Bhubaneswar, March 18: The impact of Kalbaisakhi has led to cloudy weather conditions across several parts of Odisha, with light rainfall reported in some areas. Over the past three days, the daytime temperature has remained comparatively low, bringing relief from the heat. The Meteorological Department has predicted a further drop of 3 to 4 degrees Celsius in day temperature over the next 3–4 days.

Thunderstorms accompanied by hail are likely to occur in parts of southern Odisha on Wednesday. Districts such as Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal may experience gusty winds and rain. Similar weather conditions are expected to continue on March 19 (Thursday) in some areas of the region.

The weather department has issued an Orange Warning for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Sambalpur on March 20. These districts are likely to witness hailstorms, rainfall and strong winds with speeds reaching 50–60 kmph. Northern and interior parts of the state may also experience thunderstorms with wind speeds of 40–50 kmph.

On March 21, an Orange Warning has been sounded for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Balasore, with forecasts of stormy weather and rain.

Meanwhile, Daringbadi recorded 29 mm of rainfall on Tuesday, followed by 20.6 mm in Nuapada. Among major towns, Sonepur recorded the highest day temperature at 36.6°C, followed by Bolangir at 36.3°C, Sambalpur at 36.1°C, and around 36°C in Bhawanipatna and Titlagarh.
