Govt to boost IVRS mechanism for paddy procurement

Bhubaneswar, Nov 18: Odisha government is all set to bring transparency in paddy procurement by boosting Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare,Ranendra Pratap Swain said, the department has issued the Toll Free No. 1967 in order to collect information regarding the paddy farmers. Beneficiaries can lodge complaints regarding fake farmers and illegal hoarding of paddy by fake farmers through the IVRS mechanism round the clock. At the same time, a satellite surveillance has been adopted to spot the barren lands which are registered to be paddy fields, said Swain. Besides, special squads from the department will make surprise visits to the files in order to trace out fake farmers and illegally registered paddy fields,Swain added.
