Bhubaneswar, June 17: Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on Tuesday felicitated internationally renowned sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik at Lok Seva Bhawan for winning the prestigious Russian Grand Sand Master Cup–2026 at the International Sand Sculpture Festival held in Russia's Kaliningrad Region.
Congratulating Pattnaik on his remarkable achievement, the Governor said he has become the first Indian sand artist to receive the coveted honour. Describing the feat as a matter of pride for both Odisha and the nation, he said the recognition has further enhanced India’s reputation in the global art and cultural arena.
The Governor also lauded Pattnaik’s award-winning sand sculpture, which highlighted the global challenge of climate change and its impact on humanity. He appreciated the artist’s continued efforts to use sand art as a powerful medium for spreading awareness on important social and environmental issues.
Extending his best wishes, the Governor expressed confidence that Pattnaik would continue to bring laurels to the country through his artistic excellence and meaningful creations.
