Mohana, August 13: A government school teacher in Gajapati district has been arrested for his alleged involvement with Naxal activities. The accused, identified as Pratap Kumar Nayak, was apprehended by Adava Police from Nuakhajuripada village.
According to sources, Nayak had been serving as an Ex-Cadre Assistant Teacher at a local primary school for the past few years. Police investigations revealed that he was previously associated with a Naxal outfit and had reportedly participated in several incidents of Naxal violence across different locations.
Officials confirmed that a case against Nayak was registered at Adava police station back in 2011 in connection with Naxal-related violence. Acting on that case, police took him into custody this week.
Further investigations have uncovered that multiple teachers in the Adava, Mohana, and R. Udayagiri police limits are also under the scanner for suspected links to Naxal activities and involvement in illegal ganja (cannabis) trade. These individuals have been asked to surrender at their respective police stations without delay.
Police have also issued a formal notice to the Block Education Officer (BEO) regarding the matter. Gajapati Superintendent of Police has warned that those who fail to surrender will face immediate arrest, regardless of their location.
