Bhubaneswar, Jan 1: Various government offices together have over Rs 30 crore of holding tax dues to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The government offices are yet to pay the dues despite several reminders, said an official of the civic body.
The BMC had set a target of Rs 115 crore holding tax for the financial year 2023-24 and Rs 85 crore has been assessed.
However, it has managed to collect only Rs 30 crore till end of December.
The government offices have over Rs 30 crore dues. As many as 62 government offices have not submitted the dues in south-east zone and 42 in south-west zone. Most of the offices have pending arrears for years.
Generally, most of the dues are paid towards the end of financial year between January and March. The BMC has prepared a list of government establishments to send reminders asking them to clear the dues by the end of the current fiscal, said the official.
