Sambalpur, March 14: A wave of shock and disbelief has gripped the village of Sargidihi in Odisha’s Sambalpur district following a harrowing tragedy involving a mother and her two minor daughters.
The incident first came to light on Friday when Sanju Madki allegedly killed her two young children by throwing them into a village well. Following the act, the woman fled the area, prompting the Mahulipali Police to launch an immediate search operation.
The investigation was officially set in motion after the woman’s husband lodged a formal complaint at the local police station. Pradeep Kumar Dash, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Kuchinda, confirmed that authorities began probing the case as soon as the report was filed.
The search ended in further tragedy on Saturday morning when Madki was found hanging near a nullah in a neighboring village. Police personnel reached the spot shortly after the discovery and have stated that they suspect the woman died by suicide.
While the motive behind the killings remains under investigation, the double murder and subsequent suicide have sent shockwaves through the Bamra block. Local residents have expressed deep grief over the loss of the two children and the tragic end of their mother. Police are continuing their inquiries to uncover the circumstances that led to the incident.
