Jajpur, Nov 11: In a tragic incident, a youth was killed after being hit by a speeding train on the East Coast Railway line near Gadamadhupur Railway Station in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of the nearby Madhupurgarh area.

According to sources, the youth was crossing the railway track on his way to the other side when the accident occurred. Sources said he failed to notice the oncoming express train, which hit him at high speed, killing him on the spot.

After learning about the incident, local residents rushed to the site and alerted the police and his family members. The cops then arrived at the scene and seized the body before sending it for post-mortem.

A case has been registered and further investigation into the matter is underway.
