New Delhi, July 8: Google has officially launched its new AI Mode feature for all users in India, aiming to make search more intuitive and powerful. This enhancement will allow users to ask questions more naturally and receive AI-powered responses that help them explore topics more deeply across the web.
Initially introduced last month as an experimental feature in Google Labs, AI Mode is being described by the company as its "most powerful AI search experience yet." The feature was originally available only in English through Labs, but following positive feedback, it is now being rolled out more broadly.
“The response has been encouraging, with people appreciating its speed and the quality of the responses,” Google said in a blog post. “We’ve seen users putting it to work in diverse ways—from diving deep into topics for learning to understanding complex how-tos.”
Now integrated directly into Google Search, the feature is powered by a customized version of Gemini 2.5, Google's advanced AI model. Unlike the Labs version, users will no longer need to sign up to access it.
AI Mode supports multimodal input, meaning users can type their queries, speak them aloud, or even use images—such as snapping a photo—to ask a question. In the world of artificial intelligence, multimodal capability refers to the ability to process and integrate different types of data, such as text, voice, and images, simultaneously.
According to Google, the AI Mode feature will appear in a dedicated tab within the Google app’s search interface and will be available in English.
“All the features from the Labs launch will be available, so you can type, use your voice, or even snap a photo with Lens to get a rich, comprehensive response with helpful links, and dig deeper with follow-up questions,” the company stated.
