Puri, Oct 20: Celebrating Diwali in a uniquely powerful way, internationally acclaimed sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Patnaik sculpted a stunning seven-foot-tall sand art of Goddess Kali, installed with over 1,000 traditional diyas on Puri Beach in Odisha.

The artwork carries a strong message in support of ‘Vocal For Local’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, echoing the call made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Crafted using six tons of sand, the intricate sand sculpture blends spirituality, artistry, and patriotism. It also features a dazzling display of earthen lamps, celebrating the festival of lights. The installation has drawn large crowds at Puri Beach.

Taking to his official ‘X’ handle, Patnaik shared a picture of his sand art and shared the inspiration behind his creation.

“#DiwaliWithSwadeshi 🪔 An appeal by our Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji let’s go #VocalForLocal and take pride in buying what’s Made in India. I have created a sand art of Maa Kali installed with thousands of diyas at Puri Beach, carrying the message: “Let’s Rise with Strength for #AtmaNirbharBharat.” Light up our homes and our economy by choosing Swadeshi products and supporting local artisans,” he wrote in the caption.

He urged citizens to light up not just their homes, but also the Indian economy by choosing Swadeshi products and supporting local artisans.

Patnaik also extended warm Diwali greetings to people across the country, highlighting India’s vast creative potential and calling for greater appreciation of indigenous art forms.
