Bhubaneswar, June 27: The 35th and 36th Odisha State Film Awards were celebrated with grandeur in Bhubaneswar, where Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi honoured distinguished actors, filmmakers, technicians and other film personalities for their outstanding contribution to Odia cinema. A total of 62 awardees were felicitated during the ceremony, recognising excellence in the 2023 and 2024 editions of the State Film Awards.
The event brought together some of the biggest names from the Odia film industry, making it a memorable celebration of the state's rich cinematic legacy. During his address, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of Odia cinema in preserving the state's culture and heritage. He also announced that the government is preparing a new film policy to promote the industry and develop Kalinga Studio into a modern digital filmmaking and post-production hub.
The awards recognised outstanding performances and achievements across various categories. National Award-winning films Pushkara and My Sweet Housewife shared the Best Film award for 2023, while Ashram was named Best Film for 2024.
