Balangir, Aug 29: A 15-year-old Divyang girl from Balangir, who lost her both arms and legs seven years ago after electrocution, is now undergoing training for professional archery.

Payal Nag from Jamunabahal village under Muribahal block in Balangir district came across high voltage electric wire in 2015 while her parents were working as migrated laborers in Raipur city of Chhattisgarh. Both arms and legs were amputated during treatment.

Her parents returned back home following the mishap. Balangir Collector Chanchal Rana came to know about her in 2022 during schooling and the district administration took responsibility for her.

She came to the limelight by painting Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's portrait by holding colour brush in her mouth.

Later, she talked before Collector Chanchal Rana about her interest in sports and Rana got her admitted at the Shrine Board's Sports Complex at Katra in Jammu where she has been undergoing training by national-level archery coach Kuldeep Singh since June. Her family members are living in Jammu also.

Within three months she is performing well and is now being trained to take part in international sports events, informed district administration.
