Bhubaneswar, May 30: While the Odisha Excise and Police have been recovering massive drugs and cannabis from many a secluded places & en-route, the Commissionerate Police Bhubaneswar on Friday unearthed a permanent Cannabis shop in Bhubaneswar Unit 4 market.
The city-based ganja syndicate was operating behind the banner of a spices store in the Unit 4 market which was functioning as a drug-hub for antisocial and wayward youths, said police.
Acting on a tip-off, the Commissionerate Police, along with the Special Task Force (STF) team, conducted a joint raid on the suspeicious store that was reportedly a crowd puller, on Friday and uncovered a significant quantity of processed cannabis being sold under the guise of a grocery store, especially a spices shop.
The raid led to the seizure of a huge cache of processed ganja, which was being packed into cigarettes.
One accused was detained from the store for allegedly peddling ganja and ganja-packed cigarette illegally.
Interrogation to the accused is underway. Further investigation will ascertain the sources of the contraband and the whole chain of clientele, said the police.
