Bhubaneswar, Sept 7: The capital city of Bhubaneswar is all set for vibrant Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, with community puja pandals, educational institutions, and housing societies making final preparations. Idol makers are putting the finishing touches on their creations, using mostly eco-friendly materials and innovative designs this year.
One of the main attractions will be the Ekamra Ganesh Mahotsav, organised by the Ekamra Raja Charitable Trust. The festival will showcase a 25-feet tall statue of Lord Ganesha, along with an impressive 54-foot light gateway of Sri Ramachandra. Cultural programs will be held over five days, featuring renowned artists such as Kumar Bapi, Archana Padhee, Antara Chakraborty, Aseema Panda, Swayam Padhee, Mantu Chhuria from Western Odisha, and popular cine stars like Shivani, Sangeeta, and Prakruti Mishra. Additionally, Prasad sevan arrangements will cater to around 15,000 people, and the trust will also distribute 2,000 saplings to promote environmental awareness.
At Nayapalli Nuasahi, a towering 56-foot Ganesh idol will be worshipped, and the Akhandalmani Seva Sansad are leading the preparations.
Another key celebration, the Sahid Club’s Ganesh Mahotsav, has been running for 73 years and will continue for five days, featuring traditional bhajans, melodies, and cultural performances aimed at showcasing Odisha's rich art and culture.
The Bright Star Youth Association from Badagada is organising its 43rd Ganesh Mahotsav, featuring a 57-feet tall Lord Ganesha idol adorned with 10 kg silver feet. A light gateway resembling the Titanic has also been crafted for the event, along with a 57 kg ladoo, which will be distributed to devotees during the idol's immersion.
Lastly, Tarang Club from Old Town is celebrating with a 41-feet tall Ganesh idol. A 35 kg ladoo will also be distributed among the devotees, and around 40 volunteers will be on hand to ensure safety, provide water, and maintain order at the pandal.
Bhubaneswar is brimming with excitement, as the city eagerly awaits the grand festivities of Ganesh Chaturthi 2024.
