Bhubaneswar, April 9: Frequent and unscheduled power cuts have turned a regular affair in many areas of Bhubaneswar city leaving people desperate in the sweltering conditions from the beginning of April.
The capital city and several districts of Odisha were in dark after power cut on Sunday due to Nor'westers, locally known as 'Kalbaisakhi'.
Several areas on the capital city outskirts and remote areas in the state were not supplied electricity till 2 pm on Monday.
The high instances of power outages from the first week of April have raised concern among the consumers.
Residents of Satya Vihar, Old Town, Chintamaniswar, Sundarpada, Khandagiri and many other areas alleged unscheduled power cut and low voltage in the first week of April when the Bhubaneswar city was reeling under a prolonged heat wave.
In Bharatpur area, locals alleged that frequent power cut in their area for last one week also affected the study hours of the students.
