Bhubaneswar, Sep 27: The Odisha Vigilance has arrested four more persons in connection with the alleged financial fraud at the office of the Superintending Engineer (SE), R&B Division-I, Bhubaneswar.

The arrested persons have been identified as Dipak Kumar Routray and Laxman Biswal, both staffers at the SE office, along with data entry operators Rajib Lochan Senapati and Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra.

With the latest arrests, the total number of accused in the case has risen to six.

According to the Vigilance, the four were allegedly involved in the embezzlement of government funds amounting to Rs 9,24,10,193 in collusion with Section Officer Banalata Mohanty and Junior Assistant Bibhudutta Nayak.

During the investigation, Vigilance officials reportedly found that the four accused had been working under Mohanty and Nayak and had received substantial amounts of the allegedly embezzled funds in their personal bank accounts.

The agency said Rs 32,47,800 was transferred to the account of peon Dipak Kumar Routray, while Rs 16,21,484 was transferred to peon Laxman Biswal.

Similarly, Rs 28,28,817 was allegedly transferred to the account of private data entry operator Rajib Lochan Senapati, who had been engaged by accused Section Officer Banalata Mohanty. Another Rs 35,69,098 was transferred to private data entry operator Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra, also engaged by Mohanty, the Vigilance said.

Earlier, Section Officer Banalata Mohanty and Junior Assistant Bibhudutta Nayak were arrested in connection with the case.
