Bhubaneswar, Oct 31: On the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary and National Unity Day, a Unity Run was organized at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi inaugurated the event, which saw the participation of thousands of citizens.

In his address, the Chief Minister emphasized that unity, brotherhood, and patriotism are the pillars of a developed and strong India. He stated that unity amidst diversity is the soul and strength of India. Regardless of caste, religion, language, or background, we all are Indians, and this collective consciousness strengthens us and empowers the nation.

Reflecting on Sardar Patel’s remarkable leadership, the Chief Minister noted that Patel was a visionary leader who united over 500 princely states, creating an undivided India. He further added, "Through Patel’s unwavering resolve and perspective, today we see India as 'one'."

Remembering Patel’s contribution, the Chief Minister urged everyone to come together and work in unity to realize the dream of a developed India. "This run symbolizes the unity, coordination, and love for our nation. It also reminds us that if we work collectively, we can achieve the vision of a prosperous India," he said.

The Chief Minister also recalled the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who inaugurated the "Run for Unity" in 2014. In 2018, the Statue of Unity, dedicated to Sardar Patel, was unveiled in Gujarat, standing at 182 meters tall as the world’s tallest statue, symbolizing India’s pride.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister stressed that this Unity Run encourages us to reflect on the importance of staying united as a collective force and strength. He called for strengthening bonds of brotherhood, peace, and prosperity to build a thriving Odisha and a developed India.

Sports Minister Shri Surjyabanshi Suraj, in his welcome speech, remarked that through this run, we aim to awaken the feelings of unity, coordination, and patriotism in all participants. He called for everyone to take responsibility in contributing towards building a stronger India. The event concluded with an expression of gratitude from the Chief Secretary Shri Sachin Ramchandra Jadav.

The Unity Run began at Kalinga Stadium and culminated at Power House Square. It was attended by senior officials, students, athletes, and thousands of citizens who participated in this grand event to celebrate the essence of unity.
