Four held with brown sugar worth over Rs 1.7 lakh in Odisha’s Puri

Puri, Aug 31: Puri police on Thursday seized brown sugar worth over Rs 1.7 lakh and arrested four persons in this connection.

The arrestees have been identified as Manas Rao, Ashutosh Behera, Krushnachandra Nath, and Saroj Patnaik. They have been forwarded to the court.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Kumbharapada and Talabania police conducted raids at Banambara Square and near Huluhulia Bridge in Puri and made the arrests.

The cops also seized around 17 grams of brown sugar having an estimated market value of over Rs 1.7 lakh, two mobile phones, one bike, and Rs 4,200 cash from their possession.

A probe has been launched into the matter and necessary actions will follow, said the police.
