Narendra Modi hosts global leaders to discuss human-centric artificial intelligence

New Delhi is buzzing with energy today as India hosts the prestigious India AI Impact Summit 2026. Starting this Monday at the iconic Bharat Mandapam, the event highlights the nation’s rising influence in the global technological landscape. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the India AI Impact Expo 2026 at 5 PM, marking a significant milestone for the country's digital journey.

The Prime Minister expressed his enthusiasm on social media, noting that the gathering of global leaders in India reflects the immense potential of the Indian youth. He emphasized that the summit operates under the theme “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya,” which translates to welfare and happiness for everyone. This vision focuses on using artificial intelligence to improve human lives rather than just advancing machines.

Focus on Safety and Justice

The first day of the summit is packed with critical discussions. One of the primary sessions focuses on Artificial Intelligence for Road Safety. Experts from IITs and the Ministry of Transport will explore how data-driven models can predict risks and prevent accidents on Indian roads.

Another groundbreaking topic is the transformation of the AI in Indian Judiciary. The summit will look into how technology can make the legal system faster and more transparent. By automating case management and helping with legal research, AI could significantly reduce the massive backlog of cases in Indian courts.

Empowering Farmers and Workers

The event also addresses the future of work and the "People, Planet, and Progress" framework. Discussions will cover how AI can modernize agriculture, making it more resilient to climate change—a topic of great importance to the farming communities in states like Odisha. While there are concerns about job displacement, experts will focus on large-scale reskilling to ensure the workforce stays relevant.

With over 300 exhibition pavilions and 600 startups participating, this summit is the first of its kind to be held in the Global South. It aims to create a future where technology serves humanity, protects the environment, and ensures inclusive growth for all citizens.
