Kuala Lumpur, February 7 :A mesmerizing showcase of Indian culture captivated audiences in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday as the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre (NSCBICC) set a new record for the most performers in a traditional Indian dance during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Malaysia. The performance, part of a community event where PM Modi addressed the Indian diaspora, was officially recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records.

Organized by the Indian Community Cultural Committee, the performance featured approximately 800 dancers who performed a single, continuous five-minute choreographed piece, blending a range of Indian classical and folk dance forms. The record-breaking event, titled "Largest Number of Dancers in a Single Choreographed Dance Representing a Wide Variety of Indian Classical and Folk Dance Forms Performed by the Indian Diaspora," took place at the MINES International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC) and was witnessed by both Prime Minister Modi and his Malaysian counterpart.

Christopher Wong, CEO of the Malaysia Book of Records, praised the achievement, saying, "To have 800 dancers perform Indian classical dance in perfect coordination is an extraordinary feat. Thanks to the musical director who made this possible. The Malaysia Book of Records is honored to certify this achievement."

PM Modi also congratulated the performers, stating, "We have just witnessed a record-setting cultural performance. Over 800 dancers, moving in perfect harmony. This performance will be etched in the memories of our people for years to come. I congratulate all the performers."

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister shared, "A grand celebration of Indian culture in Malaysia! A highlight of the community programme in Kuala Lumpur was a dance performance which set a new record in Malaysia. Congratulations to all those who took part."

NSCBICC Director Vijayalakshmy Sunderrajan expressed immense pride, saying, "This is an incredible honor for all the dancers who joined us on this journey. After two months of practice, they came together to make this achievement possible. I am proud to accept this on their behalf." ( Agency Input)
