Balangir, Sep 7: A special Vigilance court on Thursday awarded two-year imprisonment to the former secretary of Panchamahala PACS (Primary Agriculture Co-operative Society) in a corruption case in Sonepur district.
Special Vigilance court, Bolangir convicted Jugal Kishore Mishra and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of two years.
He has also been directed to pay a fine of Rs 5,000, said sources.
Mishra was arrested for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant to issue tokens in his favour for selling paddy at Panchamahala PACS.
The court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year and to pay a fine of Rs 3,000 for the offence under Section 7 of the PC Act, 1988.
Both the sentences are to run concurrently, the sources said.
