Bhubaneswar, June 16: Former Odisha Governor Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare breathed his last on Saturday at the age of 95.
He served as the Governor of the state from 2007 to 2013.
Governor Raghubar Das, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and former CM Naveen Patnaik condoled Bhandare’s demise and expressed deep grief.
Governor Raghubar Das took to his ‘X’ handle and wrote, “Deeply saddened to hear the news of demise of former Governor of Odisha and prominent politician Shri Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare ji. May Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath rest his soul at his feet and grant his family the strength to bear this loss.”
CM Majhi stated that Bhandare’s contribution during his tenure as Governor was very significant. Taking to his official ‘X’ handle, Majhi wrote, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the demise of former Odisha Governor Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare. His contribution during his tenure as Governor was very significant. I pray for the eternal peace of Bhandare's soul and express my condolences to his family and friends.”
Similarly, former CM Naveen Patnaik said Bhandare’s dedication to the progress of the state and the welfare of the people will always be a source of inspiration.
“I am saddened by the demise of Shri Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare, the former Governor of Odisha and veteran politician. His humble and innocent nature along with his dedication to the progress of the state and the welfare of the people will always be a source of inspiration. May his soul rest in peace,” Naveen wrote on ‘X’.
It is worth mentioning that Bhandare, born on December 10, 1928, was a Congress leader from Maharashtra and former Rajya Sabha member.
He was a senior advocate and also the President of Supreme Court Bar Association.
