Bhubaneswar, Mar 25: Ahead of the Odisha Assembly elections, former Khallikote MLA Purna Chandra Sethy today resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Sethy tendered his resignation letter to party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
“With heavy heart, I am submitting my resignation herewith with immediate effect. Thank you very much Sir, for giving me an opportunity to serve under you as well as under the people of Odisha,” read the resignation letter.
“I did not get ticket in 2019 elections. However, I was hopeful of getting that in 2024. I decided to resign from the BJD after being sidelined in the party,” said Sethy.
It is worth mentioning that Sethy had secured Khallikote Assembly seat in 2009 and 2014 elections as BJD candidate.
