Assam, Aug 27: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Monday that former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren will be joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on August 30 in Ranchi.
Sarma shared the news on social media platform 'X,' alongside a picture of Soren meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Sarma, who serves as the BJP's co-incharge for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, was also present at the meeting.
"Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and a distinguished Adivasi leader of our country, Champai Soren Ji met Hon’ble Union Home Minister Amit Shah Ji a short while ago. He will officially join the BJP on 30th August in Ranchi," Sarma posted.
Champai Soren, a prominent leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), recently expressed dissatisfaction with the party's leadership, accusing them of insulting him. He had hinted at making a significant political decision soon, leading to widespread speculation about his potential move to the BJP. This development follows accusations by JMM leader and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who alleged that the BJP was attempting to poach leaders from his party.
