Bhubaneswar, November 3: Senior BJD leader and former BJD Rajya Sabha MP Amar Patnaik is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, sources said.
A formal joining prograame will be held at the BJP State party headquarters here where Patnaik along with several leaders of the regional party in poll-bound Nuapada will be welcomed to the saffron party fold.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and party State unit president Manmoahn Samal will grace the joining event, sources added.
On being asked by media persons whether Patnaik will join the BJP today, party State unit president Manmohan Samal asked the journalists to ‘wait and watch.’
“Just wait and watch. You will know everything after a few minutes. BJD was in power for a long period of time. They (BJD leadership) will try to save the party. We will welcome those who will intend to join our party,” said Samal.
Patnaik, the former principal accountant general (AG) joined BJD in August 2018 the presence of party president and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha on a BJD ticket too.
