Balasore, July 14: The student from Fakir Mohan (FM) College in Balasore, who attempted suicide on the college premises, remains in critical condition with 95% burn injuries. She is currently on a ventilator in the ICU at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Her lungs and kidneys have been severely affected, leading to the initiation of dialysis. Specialists from AIIMS Delhi are guiding her treatment through video conferencing.
The patient is on 98% oxygen support, with close monitoring of sugar, potassium levels, and vital functions. A 10-member medical team is overseeing her care, while a high-level committee has been formed to monitor treatment progress. A health bulletin has been issued by AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
Meanwhile, a two-member Crime Branch team, including the Additional SP and DSP, visited FM College and launched an independent investigation. Key documents have been reviewed, and witnesses questioned. Findings will be submitted to senior authorities.
Back in the student's village, her family and neighbors are in deep distress, with household activities at a standstill. Relatives have demanded strict action against those responsible for the incident.
