Flood threat: Jajpur shuts all schools for two days amid rising Baitarani & Brahmani Rivers

Jajpur, Jul 31: In view of the looming flood situation in the Baitarani and Brahmani river systems and continuing adverse weather conditions, the Jajpur district administration has ordered the closure of all schools across the district for two days.

According to an official order issued by the District Education Office, all government, government-aided and private schools, including Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) and Higher Secondary Schools, will remain closed on Friday (July 31) and Saturday (August 1).

The order, issued by the Collector and District Magistrate of Jajpur, stated that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students in view of the anticipated flood situation and persistent rainfall.

The district administration said the suspension of classes has been ordered following rising water levels in the Baitarani and Brahmani rivers, which have triggered concerns of flooding in several parts of the district.

Authorities have advised residents to remain alert and follow official advisories as heavy rainfall and flood conditions continue to pose a threat across the region.
