Cuttack, Sept 18: Online marketing giant Flipkart has been penalized with Rs 53,124 fine by the Consumer Forum for non-compliance of the return policy of goods ordered from the company.
The Flipkart authorities paid the hefty amount of penalty on Wednesday to the consumer including the prices of the commodity, shipped to the valued customer as the Consumer Forum, Cuttack ruled sternly on the online delivery chain.
Sources said, a customer of Cuttack had ordered a Smart Watch online from the Flipkart in 2023. On paying the dues in advance, the smart watch was delivered through the e-porter in time. However, the user found the watch defunt when he un-wrapped the packings of it. Feeling annoyed with trying his level-best to ON the smart watch, but in vain, the customer contacted Flipcart to return the watch and replace it with a new one. However, the Flipcart consumer Care unit denied pleading that the return time of the purchased item had exceeded then.
Following this, the purchaser knocked door of Flipkart’S Authorized Service Centre for free service of the device from where he had to return with an empty hand. The service personnel expressed their inabilities to repair the newly fetched clock citing expiry period of its return policy and sought company’s approval in this connection.
Getting no ways out after no favorable response from the Flipkart despite a score of correspondence to replace the item and refund the amount, the purchaser filed a petition in the District Consumer Forum Cuttack.
Redressing the pleas, the Forum issued directions to the Flipkart to compensate for the loss of the valued customer with the sizeable fine that too with submission of a Regret & Apology Note to the petitioner. Watch the Video here......
