Srinagar, July 7: At least five terrorists were gunned down and two soldiers were martyred in the two ongoing encounters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Officials reported that four Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists, including a commander, were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Chanigam village, located in Kulgam district's Frisal area.
The operation is ongoing in Chanigam village. One terrorist's body has been spotted in Mudergam village in Kulgam district.
"Two army soldiers were martyred: Para commando Lance Naik Pradeep Nain in Mudergam, and Havaldar Raj Kumar of 1 Rashtriya Rifles during the ongoing encounter in Chanigam village, Frisal area," officials stated.
"Drones and other surveillance equipment are deployed at both encounter sites," the officials added.
Both encounters began on Saturday when security forces initiated a Cordon & Search Operation (CASO) in Mudergam and Chanigam villages, following intelligence about terrorists hiding in these villages, located approximately 12 km apart in the district.
