Five lighthouses being developed in Odisha as tourist destinations

Bhubaneswar, Dec 17: As many as five lighthouses in Odisha have been identified for tourism purposes.
Lighthouses at Gopalpur, Puri, Chandrabhaga, Paradip, and False Point (Kendrapara) have been developed among 75 lighthouses across nine coastal states and one union territory to promote lighthouse tourism.
A total of 75 lighthouses have been identified for tourism purposes in 10 states/union territories, informed Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways in Rajya Sabha today.
Infrastructure facilities like museum, amphi-theatre, open air theatre, cafeteria, children play area, gazebo, landscaping and lifts have been developed for tourism purpose in selected lighthouses, he said.
Lighthouse at Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu is under development in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode for tourism purposes, he said.
