Southampton, Sep 10: England will play three debutants in their first T20I against arch rivals Australia at The Rose Bowl, here on Wednesday.
Young wicket-keeper batter Jordan Cox, middle-order batter Jacob Bethell and allrounder Jamie Overton have been handed debut caps for the first T20I, revealed team sources on Tuesday.
Keeper Cox was part of the Test squad against Sri Lanka. He will debut alongside Surrey allrounder Overton and Warwickshire's Bethell in the series opener.
England have rested injured white-ball skipper Jos Buttler and the team will be led by wicket-keeper Phil Salt.
The line-up reveals Salt and Will Jacks will open the innings, while Cox, Liam Livingstone, Bethell, Sam Curran and Overton will take care of the middle-order batting.
While tearaway pacer Jofra Archer is back in the playing XI, Adil Rashid is the sole front-line spinner. Archer will be leading the pace attack assisted by Reece Topley and Saqib Mahmood.
England have already rested pace bowling all-rounder Gus Atkinson from the ODI series against Australia. Atkinson played six successive Tests following the conclusion of the third and final red-ball match against Sri Lanka at The Oval.
After the three T20Is, England and Australia are scheduled to play five ODIs as well.
