Rourkela, July 10: Coach reservation and ticket booking was paralyzed in Odisha’s Rourkela Railway Station on Thursday following an electrical fire in the station building.
The blaze was contained after taking power shutdown that affected railway services for hours.
According to report, a sudden spark of fire broke out from the reservation counter roof and engulfed the whole establishment including the enquiry counter of the Rourkela Railway Station in the evening. On being informed, fire services team rushed to the spot and controlled the flames following an hour-long operation.
Following the incident, ticketing, enquiry and other railway services were affected during the hours as the dousing operation was initiated following power shutdown.
Though the precise reason behind the incident is yet to be studied, electrical short circuit is suspected to be the underlying cause. However, an investigation was ordered into the matter on how the spark set the roof ceiling on the fire.
