Talcher, Ap 6: A major fire broke out at the Kaniha plant of NTPC in Talcher on Saturday.
The exact cause of the fire remains unclear, yet the area has been engulfed in smoke following the incident at the NTPC facility.
Odisha Fire Services Department had reached the scene and commenced efforts to extinguish the flames.
Sources said, the fire was reported at around 8:10 am at the conveyor belt 15 A and B along with at coal transfer point 16 located between Unit 2 and 3. The fire was quickly responded by CISF Fire Wing and Plant Disaster team and doused fully.
Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries apart from minor first aid administered to one CISF personnel during firefighting operations.
As a precautionary measure, Unit 3 of 500 MW underwent a temporary shutdown to manage the fire, while all other units remain operational.
