Bhubaneswar, July 10: An FIR was lodged against Odia actress Riya Dey at Chandrasekharpur police station for allegedly torturing her minor domestic help, police said on Wednesday.
According to police, the complainant, a poor minor girl of Salipur area in Cuttack district was engaged as domestic help of actress Riya for a monthly salary of Rs 8,000.
However, she was being physically tortured by Riya and her husband over petty mistakes. Last week, Riya made her to do 100 sit-ups and her husband hit the minor’s head with a beer bottle in an inebriated state over a minor incident, as per the allegations made by the complainant.
The minor girl on Monday managed to flee from Riya’s house in Cuttack and reached the house of one Madhuri Bishi in Bhubaneswar, who had engaged her there.
However, Madhuri was not in her residence. A woman found the minor girl crying in front of the house and informed the childline. Childline team reached the spot and rescued her. The Childline members filed a complaint at Chandrasekharpur police station on Tuesday. The police received a zero FIR and the case will be transferred to Cuttack.
