Final decision on alliance to be taken by central leadership: Jual

Bhubaneswar, March 6: Amidst ongoing speculation regarding a potential alliance with the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha, senior BJP leader and MP, Jual Oram, disclosed that discussions on this matter took place during the Core Committee meeting held in New Delhi. Oram emphasized that while the topic was deliberated upon, the ultimate decision regarding any coalition would be made by the Central leadership of the BJP.

The Core Committee meeting, chaired by BJP National President JP Nadda and attended by notable figures such as Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, also had the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Oram clarified that while the alliance was discussed, no conclusive decisions were reached. He reiterated the party's stance on fighting independently, but affirmed their readiness to adhere to the Central leadership's decision. Various election strategies were discussed during the crucial meeting.

Regarding candidate selection, Oram mentioned that the list has already been prepared for the 147 Assembly and 21 Lok Sabha seats. However, no discussions on seat sharing took place during the meeting.

Oram refrained from providing detailed commentary on the alliance issue, emphasizing that such matters would be addressed by the party's top leadership.

In parallel, senior leaders of the BJD engaged in a series of meetings with Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik at his official residence in Bhubaneswar. Senior BJD leader Debi Prasad Mishra assured that the party would make decisions in the best interest of the state, underscoring their commitment to serving the people of Odisha.

"An extensive discussion was held under the leadership of BJD President and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik with the senior leaders of the Party today regarding the strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. In the discussions, it was resolved that since by 2036, Odisha will complete 100 years of its statehood and BJD and CM has major milestones to be achieved by this time, BJD will do everything towards this in the greater interests of people of Odisha and the State," said BJD in a press release.
