Bolangir, Dec 12: A woman was found dead inside her home in Pendarmal village under the Badamal police outpost in Saintala police limits, Bolangir district, on Friday, prompting an investigation by the police.

The deceased, identified as Lakshmi Bagarti, wife of Agasti Bagarti, was residing at the house with her daughter at the time of the incident.

According to local reports, villagers went to Lakshmi’s house on Friday morning to call her for work. When there was no response from inside, they entered the house and found her hanging.

The villagers immediately informed the Badamal police outpost and Saintala police station.

Police teams reached the shortly afterward and launched a detailed investigation. Initial verification has been conducted, and the authorities are collecting evidence from the location to ascertain the cause of death.

At this stage, police have not confirmed the exact cause of Lakshmi's death, leaving open the possibility of either suicide or foul play. Investigators are actively pursuing leads, and further inquiry is underway to clarify the circumstances surrounding her untimely death.

This incident has raised concerns among the locals, and the police are working to gather more information to determine whether any foul play was involved.
