FC Goa emerges Kalinga Super Cup champion

Bhubaneswar: Double strike by Borja helped FC Goa to emerge champion of the Kalinga Super Cup 2025, defeating Jamshedpur FC by 3-0 goals here at Kalinga Stadium on Saturday. Gaurs is the first Club to win the titles for the second time, earlier they bagged the Cup in the year 2019.

The Gaurs have qualified for Asia after four years, their sole campaign in Asia came in the 2021 AFC Champions League. The head coach Manolo Marquez said goodbye to the team in style as the Spaniard won his first title with the club. 

He will now depart the club to take on the role of the head coach of the Indian men’s football team on a full-time basis. 

The final match was a testimony between the Gaurs attacking style and Jamshedpur FC's strong defensive wall.

In the 23rd minute Sangwan’s powerful shot was blocked by JFC custodian Albino, but Borja went for the shot and it was blocked by Eza, again Borja received the rebound and made no mistake to open the account for FC Goa.

After the change of sides,  Borja received a long pass, with a one to one encounter with the JFC goalkeeper, he doubled the lead in the 51st minute. Carl McHugh nailed the third goal for the team in the 72nd minutes.
