Baripada, Jan 23: In a major crackdown near Jarasahi village, close to Nala and Jhadabeda villages under Karanjia police limits, the Excise Department conducted a raid on an illegal liquor operation.

The team destroyed 8,000 kg of mahua liquor and seized 435 liters of country-made liquor. The liquor mafia fled the scene during the operation. All equipment used for the illegal production was confiscated.

A case has been registered at Karanjia Excise Police Station, and the department has launched further investigations into the racket.
