Kantabanji, July 3: In a tragic incident early Wednesday morning, a couple lost their lives after being struck by an unidentified vehicle near Patrapali Chowk within the Muribahal police station limits in Bolangir district.
The victims, identified as Gambhir Rana and Gita Rana from Patrapali village, were heading to their paddy field in Ghantabahali village via the national highway when the accident occurred. The collision also resulted in the death of one of their two buffaloes.
Following the incident, outraged villagers blocked the national highway, demanding compensation for the bereaved family.
Local police officials and the Tahasildar of Muribahal arrived at the scene to pacify the villagers.
