Bhubaneswar, February 21: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will start in Odisha on April 1, announced Chief Electoral Officer R. Santhagopalan. Preparations, including a statewide mapping exercise, are already in progress to ensure a smooth rollout.

The revision aims to update and improve the accuracy of the electoral rolls ahead of future elections.

Citizens are urged to verify their details in the 2002 SIR records and report discrepancies to the authorities. The goal is to eliminate duplicates, correct errors, and include eligible voters. The Election Commission has directed state CEOs, including Odisha's, to expedite these preparations. Public participation is essential for maintaining an accurate and transparent voter database.

The SIR exercise is conducted periodically to ensure the credibility of the electoral process.
