Cuttack, Oct 28: In a major crackdown, the Cuttack Excise Department has arrested two individuals and seized heroin worth approximately Rs 31 lakh. The operation, carried out on October 27, 2025, led to the arrest of Basudev Das (23) and Saroj Kumar Rout (24), both residents of Champapur in the Jajpur district, under Byree police station.

The arrests were made at two separate locations: Tangi Square and Manguli Square, both under the jurisdiction of Tangi police station. The successful operation was led by Excise Inspector Abani Kumar Mohapatra, supported by a team of officers, including Excise Sub-Inspector Dibyajyoti Satyaprakash, Excise Sub-Inspector Bibhuti Bhusan Pradhan, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Kishore Chandra Rout. Constables Manas Ranjan Behera, Deepak Kumar Sahoo, Biswanath Bhoi, and Ranjan Kumar Patra also played vital roles in the operation.

This operation underscores the excise department's commitment to maintaining law and order in the region and curbing the illegal drug trade.
