Cuttack, August 26: The Excise sleuths are failing to further run the investigation into spurious liquor trading due to non availability of laboratory report of the seized samples.
According to law, the seized samples of liquor confiscated during the raids at hooch dens should be sent for laboratory testing. However, the excise department has not get any testing report of the seized samples sent for alcohol testing during the last one year.
According to reports, over 500 cases have been registered in collection with illegal liquor trading in six blocks of Athagarh range under Cuttack district. The excise officials and police have seized country made liquor and poisonous raw materials used for it. The recent raids have revealed that the mafias are using urea fertilizer to decompose the raw ingredients used in making hooch. Besides they are adding Nitrosun tablet.
However, due to unavailability of alcohol test reports of the confiscated hooch, the excise department is failing to take strong action against the arrested ones and they are getting bail easily, said a senior excise official.
