Bhubaneswar, Oct 11: A handful of customers reportedly threw away torn currency notes scattered before the RBI Bhubaneswar on Wednesday after the exchange process got delayed at the specified counter.

It came to the fore when people were seen throwing torn Rs 100, Rs 200, and Rs 300 notes in the air outside the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in the afternoon.

Sources said a crowd of customers had gone to the RBI to exchange their torn and damaged currency notes for new ones today but the bank authorities allegedly refused to exchange them. Angered by the refusal, the customers went outside the bank and started throwing the old and damaged notes in the air.

The comment of the bank authorities in this connection could not be obtained so far.
