Cuttack, Nov 9: The district admin, Cuttack ordered a probe into the building collapse incident that killed three members of a family including a minor at Buxi Bazzar on Saturday.

The district Collector formed a three-member committee to probe the incident ascertaining the precise reason behind the tragedy.

Worth mentioning, three people lost their lives and six people were left injured after an old and dilapidated building collapsed near Manisahu Chhak last night.

The deceased have been identified as Abdul Jalil, Abdul Zahid, and a five-year-old child.

The injured persons were admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in critical conditions.

According to reports, the victims were residents of a nearby slum and were trapped under the debris when the structure suddenly gave way.

Locals claimed that the building had previously been declared unsafe by the authorities. However, despite repeated warnings, it was neither vacated nor demolished, raising serious concerns over the enforcement of safety measures.

Police launched an investigation into the incident and seized the bodies from the hospital for inquest and postmortem.
