London, Aug 19: With regular skipper Ben Stokes ruled out of the Sri Lanka Test series due to injury, England have already named his deputy Ollie Pope as the captain for the three-match series.
On Monday, England named all-rounder Harry Brook as the vice captain of the Lanka series.
The English selectors have chosen Dan Lawrence to open the batting, while all-rounder Matthew Potts has been drafted in as a potential replacement for Stokes.
Though Stokes is injured, but he is expected to be with the squad throughout the Test series, revealed reports.
Since England have another major injury concern with regular opener Zak Crawley out with a fractured finger.
England's last Test series was against West Indies, which they won 3-0. With the first Lanka-England Test starting at Old Trafford on Wednesday, Englishmen would be keen to repeat their recent performance and dominate the island nation.
Stokes was with the team as they reported for duty in Manchester and is expected to be part of the dressing room throughout the three-match series.
