Bhubaneswar, August 10: A total of 45,408 people across the State have been given Government jobs through Nijukti Mela (Job Fairs) during the last two years, said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi here on Monday.

“Employment generation is growing in the State. Since June 2024, our Government has organsied 16th job fairs and offered jobs to as many as 45,408 youth in the State,” said Majhi.

Gracing the 16th Nijukti Mela at the Rail Auditorium in Bhubaneswar today, the Chief Minister distributed appointment letters to about 1,326 selected candidates across nine State Government departments

He said that giving employments to youths in such a large scale prove that the Government is a people's Government.

The Housing and Urban Development Department has the highest number of appointments, with 364 candidates receiving job letters. It is followed closely by the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department with 361 appointments, 240 appointments in Energy Department, 118 appointments in Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department, 111 in the Health and Family Welfare Department, 86 in the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department and 26 in the Sports and Youth Services Department.

The Skill Development and Technical Education Department and the Excise Department each have 10 appointments.

The Chief Minister urged the newly inducted recruits to ensure timely resolution of people’s problem and grievances.

“The basic objective of Government service is to serve the people. It is moral responsibility of the Government servants to ensure the timely resolution of people’s problems and grievances. Whenever someone approaches you with a problem, you must listen to the concerns with humility, and take prompt action to address them,” said the CM.
